My Story

I grew up in Las Vegas, NV, and earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) at UNLV. While completing my MPA, I served as a graduate assistant for the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs’ School of Public Policy and Leadership, working with the Nonprofit, Community & Leadership Initiative (NCLI). That role gave me a firsthand look at the challenges small nonprofits, and the dedicated professionals behind them, face. It also inspired me to earn a graduate certificate in nonprofit management.

In 2018, after finishing grad school, my partner (now wife) and I moved to Portland, OR. I spent a short stint at Powell’s Books before starting my career in the nonprofit sector, eventually transitioning to the public sector. My passion for community stems from growing up in Las Vegas, a city many who aren’t from there mistakenly think lacks a sense of community. Today, I’m committed to helping others achieve their goals and helping them to make their own communities stronger.

During my early career working at small, community-based nonprofits I started managing websites. I took an interest in it and setup this site to practice during a web design course I took. Since then, my interest in information systems and technology has led me to increase my skillset in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other business intelligence tools. I have created and managed multiple websites using WordPress and Squarespace. I find it to be a fun way to be creative and I enjoy developing solutions that improve systems for busy professionals. I don’t take myself too seriously and mainly use this site to test out ideas and designs. A great example is the “My Recent Posts” section below, which is a work in progress, but is a great template for other sites.
